Keeping our neighborhood safe from wildfire
Keeping our neighborhood safe from wildfire
Dear Neighbors,
The JOE (Jones Rd, Oak Grove Ave, Euclid Ave) neighborhood is designated as a VERY HIGH FIRE HAZARD SEVERITY ZONE by CAL FIRE. There is no higher designation for fire risk.
A small group of neighbors has volunteered to promote fire safety in our neighborhood. Our goal is to help all of us survive a wildfire. We are working with the Town of Los Gatos and Firewise USA® to make our neighborhood as fire-safe as possible. There are steps you can take right now to make your family, your home, and your neighbors safer.
Get ready now!
Make an evacuation plan and pack your "Go Bag."
For checklists and other information, see the Resources page.
Create & maintain defensible space on your property starting with a five-foot area all around your house (This Space is known as "Zone 0").
For tips, checklists, a vendor list, and other information, see the Resources page.
You may be able to get a free, no-obligation assessment of your property from the County Fire Safe Council. The program has limited funds and personnel, but it is invaluable IF you can get an assessment.
